Funeral services for Ida Maria Joens were held Monday, September 12, 1983, 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, in Manning, Iowa, with Pastor Paul Krumm officiating. Larry Genzen was vocalist and Kristie Jacobson was organist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Clifford Tank, Robert Tank, Wesley Nulle, Merlin Musfeldt, Gary Schroeder, Paul Joens, Don Sporrer and Leroy Irlbeck as casket-bearers. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.

Ida Maria, daughter of Jasper and Alvina (Sievers) Schroeder, was born May 12, 1898, in Carroll County, Iowa. She was united in marriage with Henry Joens on January 19, 1921. To this union were born three sons: Ivan, Lester and Allan.

Ida and Henry farmed for 38 years near Manning until moving to town in 1960. They made their home in South Manning. Henry died on September 11, 1980.

Ida entered the Manning General Hospital three weeks ago. Her health steadily declined and she passed away there Friday evening, September 9, 1983, at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 27 days.

In addition to her husband, Ida was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Laura Musfeldt and Anna Tank; & one brother, John Schroeder.

She is survived by her sons: Ivan of Anita, Iowa, Lester of Manning, and Allan of Minneapolis; by 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; by two sisters, Mrs. Anita Nulle and Mrs. Edna Vollstedt, both of Manning; by one brother, Julius Schroeder, also of this community; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Ida was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Manning, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
