Ida, daughter of August and Mary Hansen Grau, was born February 19, 1891, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa. When she was two weeks old the family moved southeast of Manning where Ida attended Lincoln Township schools. In 1907 the family moved northeast of Manning.

Three years ago she moved to the Manilla Manor Nursing Home where she died on November 8, 1980, at the age of 89 years, 8 months, and 19 days.
