Ila loved to take trips and on February 17, 2014, she took the ultimate trip by entering into the life everlasting at Taylor House. She was born in Manning, Iowa, on May 17, 1934, to Theodore C. and Ruth V. Peterson.

She lived many years Sioux City, Cedar Rapids then to Des Moines in 1985. She drove school buses and retired from Nationwide Insurance in Des Moines. She is survived by her husband, Stan, of 60 years and her son Brian, a sister Lois of Nebraska and brother Jerry of Idaho.

She is preceded in death by her parents and son David. The body was cremated and a memorial service will be held February 25, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Park Avenue Christian Church with Pastor John Clausen officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
