INEZ I. HANSEN

Inez Isabel, daughter of Henry C. and Anna (Ketelsen) Moeller was born May 21, 1904, in Everly, Clay County, Iowa. They moved to Milford in the spring of 1909. Her father owned and operated Moeller Hardware. Inez attended elementary school in Milford and graduated from a boarding school in Monticello, Illinois.

On July 3, 1939 Inez was united in marriage with Peter F. Hansen, a grocer, in Manning, Iowa. They resided there until retiring to Sarasota, Florida in 1978. “Pete” passed away in 1985 on his 90th birthday. Soon after, Inez moved to Bay Village in Sarasota.

Inez was active in many organizations including Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Rotary Anns and White Shrine. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Manning. Perhaps the most enjoyable service was when she was president of the Iowa State Legislative Ladies during the time that her husband Pete served in the Iowa Senate. Her gregarious manner, uncanny ability to remember names, and love of telling stories made her a real asset to the Senator.

Inez died Sunday, October 29, 2000, at her home at Bay Village in Sarasota, Florida at the age of 96 years, 5 months, and 8 days.

Besides her husband Pete, Inez was preceded in death by her parents.

Inez is survived by a brother Myron M. Moeller of Milford, Iowa; 2 nephews: Gary Moeller of Milford and Jim Moeller of East Hampton, New York; other relatives and friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held for Inez Hansen on Monday, May 21, 2001 at 11:00 AM at the Manning Cemetery with Reverend Marshall Brown officiating.
