I.O. BINGHAM CALLED BY DEATH SATURDAY

I.O. Bingham, popularly known as " Ike " by his many friends, died in his home at Hartington Saturday night at the age of 68, after suffering for nearly two years with cancer. Mr. Bingham was a popular member of the Odd Fellow and Modern Woodmen of America lodges.

Mr. Bingham was born in Avon, Illinois in September 1864. He was the son of Samuel and Jane Bingham. Mary E. Woodard became his wife in Manning, Iowa, November 5, 1885 and three children came to bless the union. In 1889 the Bingham family moved to Cedar county and went to farming west of Hartington. Mr. Bingham continued his work in the farming industry until 1911 when he moved to Hartington where he went into business. Besides his wife, Mr. Bingham is survived by three children: Merritt, Hartington, Mrs. Alice Rosenberger, Hartington, and Mrs. Vera Thayer, Platte, South Dakota.

The funeral ceremony was held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Hartington Congregational church with the Odd Fellow lodge and Rev. Henry Essert of Colderidge in charge assisted by Rev. Louis Hieb of the Hartington Congregational church. Burial was made at the Hartington cemetery, A guard of honor made up of members of the two lodges accompanied the funeral cortege to the grave. Relatives from out of the city were unable to attend the cemetery. Throughout Mr. Bingham's lengthy and painful sickness he was always kind and patient with his friends and the members of his family. He was cheerful to the last moment of his life. Mr. Bingham was attended in the last weeks of his illness by brother lodge mem of the Odd Fellow and Modern Woodmen. A niece, Mrs. B.Van Bibber of Kansas City, was at the bedside for six weeks.
