Isabelle Mary, daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Friedman) Bengford, was born December 16, 1918, in Templeton, Iowa. Isabelle attended country school near Templeton and received her diploma from SS. Peter and Paul School in Carroll in 1933. She then went to live with her Aunt and Uncle Mary and Louis Seyller and helped with the farming and later cared for them in their home. She and Mary moved to Manning in the early 1970s. She was a part time housekeeper at the parish rectory in Manning for nine years. She also mowed lawns and cared part time for the elderly in their homes. Isabelle was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Altar and Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Manning. She was also a member of the Manning Regional Healthcare Center Hospital Auxiliary. Isabelle enjoyed canning peaches from the tree in her backyard and took pride in her flowers and yard. She was an accomplished seamstress and made her own clothes. Her sour cream raisin pie was sought after at many bake sales over the years!

In early 2011 Isabelle entered the Manning Plaza Nursing Home when she could no longer live alone. She died there on Thursday, August 18, 2011, at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 2 days. Isabelle was preceded in death by her parents; sister Bernice Saverino; aunt and uncle Mary and Louis Seyller; Malick Foley, who also lived with the Seyllers, and wife Leta; brother in law Robert Volz and nephew Richard Volz.

She is survived by her sister Betty Volz of Flushing, Michigan; brother in law Tony Saverino of Chino Valley, Arizona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good friends including Imelda and Elmer Langel of Manning.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church in Manning.
