Ivester Harding
DEATH OF I.W. HARDING.
On Friday, May 27, at his home three and a half miles southeast of Manning, the life of
Ivester W. Harding went out and his soul departed hence. The deceased had been
delicate in health for nearly a score of years but he was able to attend farm parties until
early last spring, when he had a severe attack of pulmonary affliction, and for many days
his life was despaired of, but he gradually saw better, and his friends had hopes that he
would survive until the fading of the leaves in the autumn. On the Wednesday preceding
his death he was in town and pleasantly chatted with his old friends. Mr. Harding had an
extended acquaintance and all who knew him had the highest regard for him. He was one
of those honorable, straightforward men who disdain to do anything that would ill become
a gentleman, and during his whole career his life was pure and enobling.
Ivester W. Harding was born in New Castle, Pa., on November 5, 1856. In 1862 he moved with his parents to Marshall County, Iowa, where, in 1878, he was united in marriage with Hannah Hambleton. Two years later he moved with his young wife to Carroll County. He was the father of eight children, only four of whom are left to comfort the mother in her great affliction.
The funeral of the deceased was held from the home on Sunday last, the services being conducted by Rev. S.A. Roberts. The remains were interred in the Manning Cemetery.
