Jack Albert

Jack Albert, age 64, of 1122-198th Road, died March 3, 2014, at the Boone County Hospital.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall with Rev. Helen Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Cameron Cemetery in rural Gray.

Jack Robert Albert was born in Manning, Iowa, on March 4, 1949, the son of James and Marian (Sprinkel) Albert.

He graduated from Manning High School in 1967 and then attended technical school in Sioux City.

In 1965, Jack met Barbara King of Gray who became the great love of his life. They were married July 14, 1973, in Gray and then moved to Boone.

Jack worked for a variety of tire businesses in Boone as well as working for Sandler Built Homes. In 1983, Jack opened Jack's Alignment and Repair Center in Boone where he worked until becoming ill this past December. With Barb by his side, his great passion in life was raising and showing Appaloosa horses. Together they raised many national and world champions along with hall of fame recipients. Jack enjoyed stock car racing and collecting many models of the sport. He also enjoyed cooking, especially chili, watching the Food channel, feeding and watching birds, and he loved animals, especially his cats and dogs.

Jack and Barb renewed their marriage vows on their 30th anniversary in Las Vegas in 2003.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Barb of Boone and many friends.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel on Friday from 2 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation continues Saturday from 8 a.m. until service time.

In memory of Jack, memorials may be directed to the Boone County Humane Society or to the family.
