Final Rites for Jacob Kruse at Manning Church

Manning (THNS) - Funeral services for Jacob Kruse, 78, were held at the Zion Lutheran church here at 2 o'clock, Saturday afternoon.

The Rev. Johann M. Ansorge conducted the final rites. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery, and pallbearers were William Bauer, Henry Peters, Julius Rostermundt, Clifford M. Johnson of Manning and Albert Bruch and Tom Finegan of Carroll. Mr. Kruse died at St. Mary's hospital in Duluth, Minnesota, after a few days illness, He had gone from Detroit, his home, to visit his daughter and family in Duluth when he was stricken with a heart attack from which he never rallied. He had suffered with a heart ailment for about two years.

Mr. Kruse was born February 14, 1867, in Germany. He came to Manning when 15 years old and worked for, an uncle, John Kruse, here for some time. For several years he worked on farms and then took employment on the railroad which work he continued for 45 years. He was section foreman here for many years on the Northwestern railway.

Jacob and Wilhelmina (Dressen) Kruse were married May 5, 1888, and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary May 5, 1938. Mrs. Kruse passed away July 3, 1938. About 5 years ago Jacob married Mrs. Anna Davis at Detroit, who was too ill to attend the services here. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Louis Puck (Nettie), Springfield, Minnesota; Mrs. Jake Turnbloom (Amanda), Duluth, Minnesota; Mrs. George Adolphson (Frieda), Chokio, Minnesota; Claude Kruse, Winona, Minnesota; Mrs. Thomas Klyver (Anna), Fresno, California; and Mrs. Lloyd McCullom (Wilma), of Carroll, 27 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry of Hamilton and John of Paulina, lowa; a sister, Christina Hopper, and a half-sister, Cecilia, in Germany.

The children were all present for the services except Mrs. Klyver.

Mr. Kruse was a member of the Lutheran Church.
