James Felix, son of Alphonse and Margaret C. (Underberg) Irlbeck was born January 1, 1944, in Carroll, Iowa. He attended Sacred Heart School in Templeton and then a country school Northwest of Aspinwall until the 8th grade.

Jim was a lifelong farmer. He loved the farm. He helped raise cows, pigs, sheep and baby lambs. They always had fresh eggs from their chickens. He also milked cows twice a day. He always left a bowl of fresh milk for the cats and kittens in the barn. After his father died in 1970, Jim stayed on the farm and cared for his mother. He met Patricia Neuroth Parks at a dance in Glidden. They were united in marriage on November 20, 1993, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Denison. Jim retired from farming in 2000 after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning and the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He loved to be around young children, especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who always received hugs from him.

Jim's Parkinson's disease did not keep him down, but after a fall in 2016 he became a resident at the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. He died there on Monday, February 20, 2017, at the age of 73 years, 1 month, and 19 days.

Preceding him in death are his parents: Alphonse Irlbeck in 1970 and Margaret Irlbeck in 1996; sisters, Mary Helen Irlbeck in infancy, Mary Ann Irlmeier in 2014, and a brother John "Jack" Irlbeck in 2017.

Jim is survived by his wife Patricia Irlbeck of Manning; son Bart (Amy) Parks of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Lincoln Parks, Nolan Parks and Frankie Parks all of Omaha, Nebraska; brothers Bernard "Sonny" (Helen) Irlbeck of Templeton, Jerome Irlbeck (Carol Lile) of Manning, Raymond (Marian) Irlbeck of Aspinwall, LeRoy (Elaine) Irlbeck of Manning, Tom (Dawn) Irlbeck of Aspinwall, Fred (Karen) Irlbeck of Aspinwall and Eugene (Mary Jo) Irlbeck of Carroll; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
