James Robert, son of Robert and Dorothy (Guyett) Lohrmann, was born August 14, 1973, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. He made his home with his family on a farm west of Manilla, Iowa. Jim attended the Irwin-Kirkman-Manilla School where he was a member of the Class of 1992.

Jim died on Sunday, October 1, 1989, at the age of 16 years, 1 month, and 17 days.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ferne and Lloyd Guyett, and by an uncle, Edward Brus, who was especially close to Jim.

Jim is survived by his parents, Robert and Dorothy; by two sisters: Jean and her husband, John Bohnker, of Fairmont, Minnesota, and Sara and her husband, Dean Isaacson, of Madrid; by his paternal grandparents, Edna and Willie Lohrmann, of Manilla; by four nieces, Joni, Jill, Amy, and Amber Bohnker; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jim was our son, brother, grandson, and friend. We have shared many cherished memories. Under that rough, tough side there was a very soft heart that was full of love. Once you got to know him it was easy to see the things that he enjoyed the most, his 4-wheeler, fishing, farming, golfing, and basketball, along with his friends and family. Jim had a thought provoking sense of humor that kept you smiling. The tough guy on the basketball court was nicknamed, Larry, "The Bird." And now Jim has reached for new heights. We thank you, Jim, for the best 16 years of your life!
