Jerome Joseph Halbur
Rite of Christian Burial for Jerome Joseph Halbur were held Monday, January 4, 1993, at 2:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Manning, Iowa. Celebrant was Reverend Father Ralph Reinhart. Lector was Dale Bueltel and Mass servers were Matthew Halbur, Gary Dales, Kevin Sailer. Interment was held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Gene Muhlbauer, Ray Irlbeck, Louie Andresen, Larry Klocke, Virgil Rosonke, and Lenny Sailer as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Don Bluml, Vernon "Lefty" Brincks, Gerald Schulte, Gary Rupiper, Jack Lorenzen, Norbert Stoberl, Lawrence Sporrer, Russell Mohr, and Curt Stribe. Prayer service and Rosary were held Sunday; January 3, 1993, at 3:00 p.m. and the Catholic Daughters Rosary at 7:00 p.m. both at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa.

Jerome, son of Albert and Agnes (Irlmeier) Halbur, was born July 5, 1939, at Gray, Iowa. When he was a young child the family moved to a farm near Halbur and Jerome attended St. Augustine School in Halbur.

On September 3, 1960, Jerome was united in marriage with Virginia Winker at St. John's Catholic Church in Arcadia by Reverend C.A. Ahmann. They lived near Manning where Jerome was a grain and livestock farmer. He also enjoyed helping his father build many homes in the Halbur area. Jerome was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish where he served as usher for many years and, at one time, served on the parish council. He was past president of the Carroll County Beef Producers and was a member of the Carroll County Pork Producers. For a number of years Jerome served on the board of the Manning Trust and Savings Bank. Above all he was very devoted to his children.

Jerome died at the Manning General Hospital on Friday, January 1, 1993, as the result of an injury suffered in a farming accident. He was 53 years, 5 months, and 27 days of age.

He was preceded in death by his mother and by one brother in infancy.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of Manning; his children: Regina and her husband, Scott Marshall, of Spencer; Jeffrey Halbur and his wife, Lisa, of Manning; Roxanne and her husband, Thomas Bueltel, of Arcadia; and Cory and his fiancee, Paula Tinkham, of Manning; six grandchildren: Jennifer and Brian Marshall, Ashley and Jeffrey Halbur, and Elizabeth and Nathan Bueltel; his father, Albert Halbur and Bernice Landgraf, of Halbur; a sister, Alvina and her husband, Vince Leiting, of Westside; four brothers: James Halbur and his wife, Betty, of Halbur; Leroy Halbur and his wife, Donna, of Manning; Marvin Halbur and his wife, Patricia, of Manning; and Ivan Halbur and his wife, Linda, of Arcadia; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Jerome Halbur is buried in the Manning Catholic Cemetery.
