Jerome Kasperbauer
Jerome Joseph, son of Boniface and Bernadine (Mersman) Kasperbauer, was born April 18, 1918, near Dedham, Iowa. He attended country school at Ewoldt No. 6 near his home east of Manning. Jerome then worked for his dad on the family farm.

On October 1, 1940, Jerome was united in marriage with Margaret Starman at St. John Catholic Church in Adair. They had three children. In 1941 Jerome and Margaret rented a farm east of Manning and purchased this farm in 1964. They had a dairy herd and hog farrowing operation and raised broilers and laying hens. Jerome was active in the National Farmers Organization. His love for the land was evidenced in his implementation of soil conservation and methods of chemical free farming for which he has won several awards. After living on the farm for 61 years, Jerome and Margaret moved into Manning in December of 2002.

On Saturday, March 11, 2006, Jerome died at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa following a brief illness. He was 87 years, 10 months and 21 days of age.

Besides his parents, Jerome was preceded in death by a daughter Judy Kasperbauer and two brothers Donald and Francis Kasperbauer.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Margaret Kasperbauer of Manning; a son David Kasperbauer and wife Deb of Manning; a daughter Mary and husband Dwight Hazen of Crescent; nine grandchildren: Michael Kasperbauer and wife Erika; Jeremy Kasperbauer and wife Sue; Amy Kasperbauer and friend Ryan Swanson; Brandon Kasperbauer; Mark Hazen and friend Stacy Zeluf; Sarah and husband Greg Rodenburg; Jennifer and husband Chris Weber; Scott Hazen and Laura Hazen; five great-grandchildren: Bryanne, Cory, Trey, Tyler and Rachel Kasperbauer; a brother Ray Kasperbauer of Council Bluffs; three sisters: Genevieve Handlos of Manning; Dorothy Kerkhoff of Audubon and Bonita and husband John Kahler of Cheyenne, WY; a sister-in-law Marie O'Gorman of Greeley, NE: and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY
TO ACCEPT THE THINGS
I CANNOT CHANGE,
THE COURAGE TO CHANGE
THE THINGS I CAN,
AND THE WISDOM
TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.
AMEN.
