John A. Bauer

John Anton Bauer, 65, of Manning was dead upon arrival at Manning General Hospital Monday noon, October 14, 1974.

Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am Thursday at Sacred Heart Church here, with burial in the parish cemetery. The Rev. Norbert Weber, MSC, will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons Keith, Kevin, Terry, and Michael Bauer, and Robert and Douglas Haberl.

Friends may call after 2 pm Wednesday at the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm Wednesday, followed by a Bible service led by Fr. Weber at 8:15.

Mr. Bauer, son of John B. and Anna Venteicher Bauer, was born near Willey May 14, 1905. He attended St. Mary's School at Willey. On January 7, 1930, he married Mary Langel and they farmed near Willey for ten years and then near Halbur until moving to Manning seven years ago.

Survivors include his wife; five children, Erwin of Manning, Edmund and Alvin of Sac City, Mrs. Donald (Mary Ann) Haberl of Carroll and John Simon (Jack) Bauer of Columbia, Missouri; also 22 grandchildren and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Minnie Tigges of Dexter, Conrad and Melvin of Carroll, Mrs. Joe (Mary) Langel of Templeton, Mrs. John (Regina) Wiskus, Mrs. Joe (Teresa) Wiskus and Herman of Dedham, and Mrs. Lambert (Lena) Reicks of Scranton.

Mr. Bauer was preceded in death by an infant son and two brothers.
