Funeral services for John Frahm were held Friday, March 13, 1981, 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran. Church with Pastor Edward F. Heinicke officiating. Organist was Dorothy Kusel. Interment was in Manning Cemetery with Mark Enenbach, Greg Bjorndahl, Mark Swerczek, Tom Quest, Phillip Haller and Ivan Frahm as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Lester Andresen, Bill Joens, Frenz Lohrmann & Albert Jansen.

John, son of Detlef and Margareta (Rowedder) Frahm, was born on November 3, 1889, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, near Manning, Iowa. He attended rural schools near his home. As a young man he worked on farms north of Manning & near Westside.

On May 10, 1939, he was united in marriage with Alma Schrum at Rock Rapids, Iowa. From 1921 - 1945, he worked with his brother, Herman in the Frahm Motor Company, a Studebaker dealership in Manning. From 1945 until he retired in 1960, he owned a farm north of Manning and was involved in the cattle raising business. After his retirement, he and his wife, Alma, continued to live in Manning. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.

John had been in failing health for about a year. In December of 1980, he entered the Montclair Nursing Center in Omaha and died there on Tuesday, March 10, 1981 at the age of 91 years, 4 months and 7 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three wives, Marie Andresen Frahm, Katie Andresen Frahm, & Amanda Schroeder Frahm; two brothers, Henry and George; one sister, Emma, Mrs. Julius Hagge; a half-sister, Mrs. Katie Ohrt, and a half-brother, Detlef Frahm.

He is survived by his wife Alma of Manning; four daughters, Helen, Mrs. William Enenbach of Omaha, LaVerne, Mrs. Joe Bjorndahl of Garden Grove, California; Marian, Mrs. Henry Vajcner of Villa Park, California, and Mary, Mrs. Don Swerczek of Omaha; 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Herman of Manning and Harry of San Diego, California; as well as by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
