HE LIVED EIGHTY FOUR YEARS.
John Halley died on last Saturday afternoon at the home of his son, William Halley, one mile east of town. The immediate cause of his death was a severe fall, received just one week previous. The funeral was held on last Sunday afternoon, at the Halley residence, Rev. Z.W. Steele conducting the services. John Halley was born in Virginia, December 12, 1811, and died July 27, 1895, at the age of eighty-four years. He had resided in Iowa since 1853, and he and his aged wife have, for the past five or six years, made their home with their son, near Manning.


John Halley is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
