Farmer Dies at Manning

At his home in Manning on Friday night, May 22, 1925, occurred the death of John Joens after a short illness with cancer of the intestines.

Mr. Joens was born in Germany, April 9, 1852, and at the time of his death had reached the age of 73 years, 1 month and 13 days. He came to this country when a young man and engaged in farming, residing for many years on a farm in Hayes twp. near the Five Mile House, retiring later to Manning where he lived until his death. Mr. Joens was a pleasant and congenial man a good father and husband and throughout his many years of residence in this vicinity made many friends among our people, who greatly regret his passing and will miss him now that he is gone.

Funeral services were held at Manning on Sunday afternoon and many from this city attended.
Burial was made in the Manning cemetery.
