John Kruse Services At Zion Church

Funeral services for John F. Kruse, 87, were held Thursday afternoon at the Zion Lutheran Church here. The Rev. Paul Sohn officiated. Mrs. James Meyer sang "Heaven is My Home" and "Asleep in Jesus" accompanied by Mt, Marvin Fintel. Pallbearers were, Paul Brockmann, Rodney Brockmann, Ronald Kruse, James Kruse, Emil Kamrath, and Lester Thoms. In charge of the flowers were Mr. and Mrs. John Beermen.

Johannes F. Kruse was born August 26, 1871, to Claus Kruse and Henrietta Ladewig at Eckenfoerde, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

When a young man of 14, he came to this country and settled near Manning where he also furthered his education.

In 1900 he was married to Emma Mehrens and he and Mrs. Kruse farmed in Cherokee and O'Brien Counties for a number of years, retiring from the farm and moved to Paullina in 1929. Mrs. Kruse died in 1916 and he was married later to Mrs. Minnie Wilde.

Mr. Kruse was in comparatively good health until surgery Sioux City in April and he was later moved to Millie's Nursing home in Sutherland where he died June 1, 1959.

Survivors are his widow, Minnie, two daughters, Ella, Mrs. William Lange and Rosetta, Mrs. Edgar Brockmann and one son, Truman, all of Paullina; one half-sister, Cella, in Germany, ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Adolphsen of Chokio, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Puck, Springfield, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Peterson and Emil Mandelkow, Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Don Wilde and Mrs. Mayme Wilde, Struble, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wilde and John Mandelkow, Le Mars, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Strasburg of Hawarden.
