John L. Hansen

John L. Hansen, pioneer resident and retired farmer of Manning, passed away at the Manning hospital about 4:30 Monday afternoon. Mr. Hansen had become ill Sunday afternoon and was taken to the hospital at 11 p. m. Saturday night. He had been feeling as well as usual and only recently returned from California where he had spent the winter visiting, with his two daughters.

Mr. Hansen was born July 17, 1861, in Seestedt, SchleswigHolstein, Germany, and reached the age 81 years, 10 months and nine days (died May 26, 1947).

He is survived by one son, Peter Hansen of Manning, two daughters, Mrs. Laura Krumland of Byron, Calif., and Mrs. Anna Bradford of Niles, California, also three brothers, Adolph, August and Herman Hansen, and one sister, Mrs. Henry W. Meyers, all of Manning. There are also several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 30, from the Ohde Funeral home, with the Rev. Arthur Raeside, pastor of the Presbyterian church, in charge.

Interment will follow in the Manning cemetery.

Pallbearers tentatively listed Wednesday will be Herman Grau, Francis Brennan, Verdis Hansen, John R. Hansen and Henry E. Meyers.

John Hansen is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
