Every leaf in the forest
Lays down its Iife in its season
As beautifully
as it was taken up.

Jon Grimm
Jon Michael, son of Clousie and Betty (Grelck) Grimm, was born April 25, 1952, in Carroll, Iowa. Jon grew up in Manning and graduated from Manning High School in 1970. He then moved to Denison where he worked at IBP and Bryan Electric. Around 1980 Jon purchased his own truck and began trucking for Umthun Trucking. In 1985 he returned to Manning and purchased Grimm's bar from his mother. He continued to truck while operating the bar.

On March 17, 1990, Jon was united in marriage with Deb Harvey at Las Vegas, Nevada. Jon and Deb made their home in Manning. In 1992 he sold the bar and trucked for Umthun until 2001 when he began hauling for Decker Truck Line.

In March of 2003, Jon was diagnosed with cancer from which he died on Sunday, August 17, 2003, at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa. He was 51 years, 3 months and 23 days of age.

Jon was a lifetime-member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, walking his dog Tobie, watching Cubs baseball, attending the Indianapolis 500 each year and spending his time with Deb.

Beside his parents and grandparents, Jon was preceded in death by a half-sister Marilyn East.

He is survived by his wife Deb Grimm of Manning; a son Jason Harvey and wife Emmy of Hampton, Minnesota; sisters Sharon and husband Tom MacDonald-Williams of Manning and Sue and husband Dale Bower of Garretson, South Dakota; Deb's parents Darrell and Ruth Harvey of Manning; sister-in-law Judy Meyer of Denison; brother-in-law Steve Harvey of Des Moines: nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
