Joseph Arp son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Arp living about 7 miles southwest of Manning, died at his home on Thursday, December 28, 1911, at the age of 21 years, 11 months and 4 days, after only an illness of about a week, the cause of his death being appendicitis. Joseph Peter Gilbert Arp, was born in Follets, Clinton County, Iowa, January 24, 1890. When he was six years old he moved with his parents to Carroll County where he resided since. He leaves to mourn his loss besides his grieving father and mother, two brothers, John and Henry and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Frank and Miss Mabel Arp.

Just at the stage of his brightest career this good young man was taken from among us. Who knows what a bright future was before him. But the great Lord has a reason for all things and the parents have found consolation in the fact that it was He and no one but He can stay death.

The deceased was entered in the Manning Cemetery Saturday. Rev. Scoggan of the M.E. Church preaching the last words that would separate him from us until we meet him above. The sympathy of the friends and neighbors is with the bereaved parents and relatives.
