JOSEPH PAUL HOFFMAN
Joseph, son of Anton and Anna (Haferland) Hoffman, was born October 12, 1912, in Templeton, Iowa. He grew up in Templeton, attending Templeton schools. After completing his schooling he worked on various farms in the area until the time of his marriage.

On August 20, 1940, Joe was united in marriage with Cletta Reinart at Manning. Shortly after their marriage Joe began working for the Manning Creamery Company. In his 30 years with them he worked as an ice man, milk hauler, and eventually on the ManCryCo Farms. After his retirement he and Cletta continued to live in Manning except for the years of 1979 - 1984 when they lived in Boone near their daughter, Betty. Joe was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Manning, the Knights of Columbus in Templeton, and the local senior citizen group. He enjoyed all sports and gardening.

Joe died on Friday, November 22, 1991, after he suffered an aneurysm which caused an auto accident three miles west of Ogden, Iowa. He was on his way back to Manning after visiting his daughter in Boone. Joe was 79 years, 1 month, and 10 days of age.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by four brothers: Frank, Tony (Anton), Pete, and John.

Survivors include his wife, Cletta, of the Manning Plaza; his children: Betty and her husband, Bob Waterbury, of Boone; Melvin Hoffman and his wife, Helen, of Rawlins, Wyoming; Hilbert Hoffman and his wife, Debra, of Orlando, Florida; and Barbara and her husband, Jerome Riesenberg, of Roselle; 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Hoffman and his wife, Bertha, of Carroll; a sister, Lizzie Steffes, of Canute, Oklahoma; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
