Joyce (Vermeule) Beatty, age 66, of West, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 12, 2016, at her residence.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2016, at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Boniface Onjefu officiating.

Joyce was born June 11, 1949, in Manning, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Cornelius and Virginia Maxine (Fritz) Vermeule. She attended Anaheim High School in Anaheim, California. Joyce was Associate Manager at Wal-Mart in Gun Barrel City for over 20 years, retiring in 2013. She had also worked for the Wal-Mart in Bay City. Joyce enjoyed crafts, baking and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Ron Beatty; a daughter, Dr. Jill Beatty Lednicky and husband Mike, all of West; brothers, Jack Vermeule and wife Nancy, and Jim Vermeule and wife Toni; sisters, Judy Spears and husband Travis and Janie Murphy; grandchildren, Zachary, Luke and Jacob Lednicky; a niece, Stephanie Conley and husband Robert; great nieces, Shelbie and Savanna; and several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund.
