JULIA BENISCHEK

Julia Benischek, 87, died Thursday, August 7, at the Manning General Hospital.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 10, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Henry Jensen, pastor of Calvary Baptist church, officiating. Burial was in King cemetery near Vail.

Mrs. Benischek is survived by three daughters: Gladys Benischek, Aspinwall; Mrs. Leo (Ruth) Reinart, Sergeant Bluff; Mrs. Everett (Irene) Quick, Manilla; a son, Lee Benischek, Sioux City; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six sisters: Marie, Anna, Emma, Agnes, Carolyn and Bessie in infancy and four brothers: Wesley, Joseph, John in World War I, and George.

Mrs. Benischek was born in Hayes Township, Crawford County, on September 18, 1898, a daughter of Wesley and Anna (Johonek) Slechta. She attended rural schools in Crawford County. She was married to Martin Benischek on October 18, 1915. They farmed near Vail until 1938 when they moved to a farm near Manilla. In 1950, they moved to Aspinwall. Her husband died in 1972.

She continued to make her home in Aspinwall and her daughter, Gladys, lived with her. Failing health forced her to move to the Bayard Care Center in January of 1985.
