Julien Joy Back, the daughter of Edmund and Elda (Musfeldt) Gaskill, was born December 28, 1931, in Manning, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the Audubon area, graduating from Audubon High School in 1950.

Julien was united in marriage to Donovan Back on May 19, 1952, in Audubon, Iowa.

Julien worked as a secretary for Farm Bureau Insurance in Audubon for 12 years and Ellsworth Freight Lines in Eagle Grove, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Rotary Auxiliary and Evangelical Lutheran Church. Julien enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.

Julien passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove at the age of 84 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant children.

Survivors include her husband, Donovan Back of Eagle Grove; daughter, Jackie (Paul) Campbell of Eagle Grove; two grandchildren, Jennifer Campbell (Wyatt Haas) of Eagle Grove and Justin (Brandy) Campbell of Ankeny; great-grandson, Asa Campbell; sister, Zona Bartel of Clarksville, Tennessee, and a nephew, Channing Bartel of Clarksville, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Jason Cooper officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
