Jurgen Hansen, Pioneer Farmer Dies At 73 Years
Jurgen Hansen, for many years a resident of this vicinity, was born on March 26, 1864, in Gross Rheide, Germany, the oldest son in Mr. and Mrs. Johann Frederick Hansen, and passed away at the Wyatt Memorial Hospital on March 30, 1937, at the age of 73 years and 4 days.

He had two brothers, one sister, and one half-sister, one of his brothers having died in 1891.

Mr. Hansen came to America in the spring of 1882, going first to Clinton County, and a little later to Carroll County, where he worked on farms until 1888, when he went back to Germany for a visit. He remained there about a year, then returned to this country and began to farm.

On February 21, 1891, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Meyer, to which union five children were born: John, Henry, Wilhelmina, Mrs. William Bruhn, Hugo, and Herbert. The youngest son, Herbert, preceded his father in death in 1920.

In 1901 he purchased a farm two and a half miles north of Manning, moving there in the spring of 1902, and it is there the family have since made their home.

Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his passing twelve grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock on Friday afternoon from the Ohde Funeral Home with the Rev. George E. Steele officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.

The following will act as pallbearers: Henry A. Boysen, Ed Breckenridge, Albert Puck, William E. Sander, John Musfeldt and Emil A. Wiese.
