Karie Graham

Karie Marie, daughter of Howard and Arlene (Polzin) French, was born May 6, 1943, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. The family lived 4.5 miles east of Irwin, and Karie attended country school through the sixth grade. She then graduated from Irwin schools in 1961 and worked for a summer at Yellowstone National Park in Montana.

Karie studied bookkeeping in a commercial extension course in Omaha, Nebraska, and then held various jobs. In November of 1963 she was united in marriage with Jack Graham and two sons were born to this union. Karie and Jack divorced and she and her two sons moved to Gresham, Oregon. In the mid-1970s and Karie worked in bookkeeping for Viking Industries. She was diagnosed with M.S. in 1986, which necessitated that she stop working. She moved back to Omaha in 1987.

Karie was a voracious reader and talented painter and sketch artist. She always enjoyed playing cards with friends and was a lifelong movie fan. Karie had a love for dogs and in recent years she was happy to babysit her son's dog, Maxwell. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her storytelling.

Karie died suddenly and unexpectedly at home in Omaha on Saturday, November 23, 2013. She was 70 years, 6 months and 17 days of age.

Preceding Karie in death are her parents and a stillborn sister. She is survived by her sons Tim Graham of Omaha and Todd Graham (Kim) of Portland, Oregon; grandsons Tyler and Travis Graham; sister Ruth Muckey (Mike) of La Vista, Nebraska; brother Carl French (Carol) of Manilla; aunt Gladys Musfeldt (George) of Irwin; other relatives and friends.
