Newspaper Obituary: Mrs. Grundmeier's Funeral Services Held Yesterday

Manning (THNS) - Funeral services for Mrs. Kate Barbara Grundmeier, 82, were held at the Ohde Funeral home in Manning Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. The Rev. Arthur Raeside of the Presbyterian Church officiated.
Music was furnished by a quartet, Mrs. Nick C. Schrum, Mrs. Albert Dietz, Ray Pratt, and Clifford Manning Johnson with Mrs. Henry W. Hagedorn at the organ. Burial was in the Manning cemetery, with grandsons acting as pallbearers.
Mrs. Grundmeier was born, Kate Barbara Koepke, daughter of Caroline and Carl F. Koepke, February 10, 1864, in Chicago, Illinois. She came to Manning in 1871, before the beginning of the town. She married Hugo Grundmeier at Carroll, March 24, 1884. They farmed for several years and then moved to Manning where Mr. Grundmeier operated a hardware store for a long time - with several partners and also individually in the present Kuhl and Vogt hardware store location.
Mr. Grundmeier died in Manning, July 6, 1936, and a son Ernest A. Grundmeier in September, 1921.
Survivors include the following children: Mrs. Katie Keller, Pipestone, Minn., Hugo H. Grundmeier, Carroll, Iowa, Clarence F. Grundmeier, Manning, Iowa, Mrs. Alice G. Pare, Divernon, Illinios, one sister, Miss Lena D. Koepke, Manning; and one brother, Charles H. Koepke, Blair, Nebraska, 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She attended the Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Grundmeier, who made her home with her son, Clarence, had not been in the best of health for several years. A few years ago she fell and broke a hip, from which she seemed to recover satisfactorily. A few days before her death she suffered a slight stroke and passed away at her home here, Monday morning, October 7.

Carroll relatives attending the funeral rites included Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Grundmeier, sons Russell and Oren, and daughters Marie and Letha, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Grundmeier and daughter Deanna, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Grundmeier, Mrs. E.C. Grundmeier and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Grundmeier and daughters, Margaret Ann and Mary Lu.
Russell Grundmeier drove home from Springfield, Illinois for the services.
