Obituary
December 18, 1921 Manning Monitor

Cancer claimed another victim in the passing of Mrs. Adolph Hansen.

She was born in 1876 in Boomhoosen, Germany, and her maiden name was Katherine Margaret Knutzen. When but a child of seven years she immigrated with her parents to American and the family settled in Clinton county. Ten years after her arrival upon American soil she was married to Adolph Hansen. Their marriage was extremely happy. In 1912 the family settled in Manning. Four years ago the deceased was operated on in Carroll hospital but she never really recovered. Eleven weeks ago she took a turn for the worse, then came a slight improvement but on the heels of this came a relapse. She lingered for two weeks and on Sunday evening she answered the call of her heavenly Father and passed to the great beyond. She was at the time of her death, 55 years, 3 months and one day of age.

She was a kind, generous hearted mother and fond and sweet are the memories that will be cherished by those left to mourn who include her life-partner, Adolph Hansen, her children; Mrs. E.J. Miller, Carroll; Fred Hansen, Council Bluffs, Henry Hansen, Manning; Mrs. William McEnany, Manning, also her sister Mrs. Lakeman of Elkton South Dakota, three brothers, John, Jerry and Henry and seven grandchildren.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday afternoon in the M.E. Church, the Rev. H. Coates officiating. The remains were interred in the Five Mile House cemetery.
