Kathrina Jones
Obituary
Mrs. Kathrina Jones, died at the home of her son, Jurgen Jones, south of town, last Thursday
evening. She had formerly lived for some years in her home on north Main Street, but
getting so old and feeble her son decided he would take her to his home for the remainder of
her days. She had been troubled for some time with dropsy, and this, going to her heart,
caused her death. She was a good, kind old lady, very quiet, and never made many
acquaintances.
Kathrina (Stamp) Jones, was born at Margertorff, Germany in 1830 and was married to Mathias Jones in 1853. Mr. Jones died in 1863 in Germany. She moved with her sons to America in 1891 and purchased land southwest of town where she has since resided until after a few years ago when she came to Manning as before stated. She was a member of the German Lutheran church for many years. She leaves three sons, Mathias Jones, Hans Jones, and Jurgen Jones, to mourn her loss. The funeral was held last Sunday, Editor Berthold Kraus officiating, after which the remains were interred in the Manning Cemetery.
Note: there are no tombstone or city records for Kathrina or Jurgen Jones.
I'm occasionally adding the actual scanned image of the obituary I make using my VERY expensive - large commercial scanner,
and/or also other articles about the deceased person that were published in the Manning Monitor.
I want to also comment about people who are taking my obituaries, pictures, and/or other articles about a person/family and posting them on other websites.
You do NOT have permission or the right to do this - you are stealing my historical work.
Buy your own scanning equipment, pay for memberships to other commercial websites,
and spend decades working on your local history like I have - then you'll understand why I'm making these comments!
Thank you for your attention to this matter - Dave Kusel
