Kathleen Ruth, daughter of Elmer & Ruth (Farrell) Fischer, was born March 22, 1947, at Manning, Iowa. She attended school in Manning until 6th grade then went to Special Education classes in Carroll. Kathy attended Goodwill Industries in Omaha for two years, training as a Dietary Aide. She worked at Methodist Hospital in Omaha for her training.

During this time Kathy met Charles Coleman and they were united in marriage in 1976 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. They made their home in Manning. Kathy worked at The Corner Cafe as well as Veterinary Associates. She was also a babysitter for several families in Manning. After a lengthy illness in 2009 Kathy retired.

Kathy loved attending Zion Lutheran Church and all the church events. She helped for many years with Sunday School. Kathy enjoyed bowling and bowled until her health prevented it. She volunteered at the Manning Plaza nursing home and enjoyed having coffee with her friends at the Manning Hospital Snack Bar.

Kathy’s nephews and nieces were her pride and joy. She always had pictures of them to share with her friends. Kathy especially enjoyed watching Dane and Brody in their school and sports activities.

Kathy was a resident of the Manning Plaza for less than a week when she died there from the effects of cancer on Monday, November 7, 2011. She was 64 years, 7 months and 16 days of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents (Ruth in 1983 and Elmer in 1989) and brother, Warren Fischer, in 1985.
