Funeral services for Kenneth E. Dales were held Friday, January 25, 1991, at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Manning, Iowa. Dr. Charles Curl officiated the service with JoAnn Karsten as organist, and Carolyn Miller, vocalist. Interment was in the Manning City Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Melvin Meier, Fred Wittrock, Curly Doyel, Orren Ramsey, Ron Hansen and Chuck Moore serving as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Glen Brady, Ambrose Dentlinger, Wayne Tibben, and Elmer Bauer.

Kenneth, son of Earl and Rhoda (Moore) Dales, was born October 23, 1909, in Gering, Nebraska. The family moved to the Botna, Iowa, area when Kenneth was three years old. He attended grade school in Kirkman and high school in Irwin.

On October 12, 1927, Kenneth was united in marriage with Minnie Johnson at Harlan, Iowa. Four children, Mary Jane, Gene, Gary, and Nancy, were born to this union.

Kenneth farmed near Redline, Iowa and hauled cream for the Crystal Springs Creamery in Kimballton for ten years. He then farmed near Botna and Gray retiring to make his home in Manning in 1973. Kenneth held membership in the United Methodist Church in Manning.

Kenneth was taken to Manning General Hospital by ambulance late Tuesday morning, January 22, 1991, where he died a short time later at the age of 81 years, 2 months, and 30 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by two sisters: Nancy Michaelson and Grace Wilkens; by his son, Gary Lee, as a child; and by three grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie, of Manning; his children: Mary Jane Johnston of Cottonwood, Arizona; Gene Dales and his wife, Dorothy, of Manning; and Nancy and her husband, Kenneth Baum, of Sardinia, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
