Kenneth Emil Ehlers

Kenneth Emil Ehlers passed away November 30, 2008, at Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born September 17, 1919, at Manning, Iowa, the second of 3 sons born to Emil and Ella (Wegner) Ehlers. Growing up in the Manning area, he graduated from Manning High School in 1937. On May 25, 1940, he was united in marriage to Pauline Mae Newman in Carroll, Iowa. Kenneth and Pauline were engaged in farming in the Manning area while raising their 4 children.

He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1951. Maintaining his relationship with Jehovah God and continuing to take in Bible knowledge were of the greatest importance to Kenneth throughout the rest of his life. He maintained his unique sense of humor to the very end. His wife Pauline died in 2005, after nearly 65 years of marriage. He then resided at Silver Hills until entering Bedford Nursing and Rehab Center in April, 2007.

He is survived by his brother, Leman of Manning; his daughters, Elaine Parks and her husband Gene of Mission, Texas, and Eleanor Carlson and her husband Howard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sons, Larry and his wife Michalene Ehlers, of Omaha, Nebraska; and Gene and his wife Dixie Ehlers, of Bedford, Iowa; plus many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel in Bedford.
