HENRY KOESTER

Henry, son of Gustav and Mary Carstensen Koester, was born December 21, 1912 in Iowa Township, Crawford County, Iowa. He attended country school near his home. Henry worked at various jobs in the community and he worked for 16 years in Cherokee. In his later years he served as a bus driver for the Senior Citizen Center in Manning, and he was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.

Henry died suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 11, 1989 at Manning General Hospital at the age of 76 years, 9 months, and 20 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by three brothers: Louie, Herman, and Julius.

Henry is survived by a brother, Harry Koester, of Altoona; by three sisters: Mrs. Edwin (Ida) Wunder, of Manning; Mrs. Herman (Amanda) Lamp, of Manning; and Mrs. Louie (Hilda) Meyer, of Grants Pass, Oregon; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
