LAURA HAMANN

Graveside services were held Thursday, June 18, 1987, at 11:00 a.m. at Manning City Cemetery in Manning. Reverend Randy Ross of First Presbyterian Church in Manning officiated the service.

Laura, daughter of Edward and Dora Eckholdt, was born September 11, 1885, in Carroll County, Iowa. In January of 1907 she was united in marriage with William Hamann. They farmed near Irwin for many years and moved to Manning in 1952. Her husband died December 28, 1974. Laura made her home in the Manning Plaza Nursing Home where she moved in 1975. Laura enjoyed an active life and enjoyed visiting with people at the nursing home. She died there Tuesday, June 16, 1987, at the age of 101 years, 9 months, and 5 days.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; by three brothers, Albert, Mike, and Jerry Eckholdt; and by two sisters, Alvina Fischer and Emma Mohr.

Laura is survived by her daughter, Melba and her husband, Vernon Shearman, of Lake View; by two granddaughters, Gwen Reinking, of Omaha, Nebraska and Gloria Peters, of Huntington Beach, California; by one great-grandson, Dennis Reinking of Omaha; by three great great-grandchildren: Amber, Brook and Natasha Reinking, all of Omaha; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
