MRS. HERMAN (LAURA) HARGENS

Mrs. Herman (Laura) Hargens, 84, of Manning, died early Sunday, June 5, 1977, at the Manning Plaza.
Friends and relatives may call at the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Jones of Manning Methodist Church officiating. Organist was Mrs. Bonita Hagedorn accompanied by Judy Joens. Pallbearers were her grandsons.

Interment was in the Manning City Cemetery.

She was born on June 9, 1893, to Ferdinand and Anna Jansen in Clinton County. The family moved to Manning when she was a young girl, and she attended the Manning area country schools.

On February 21, 1912, she was united in marriage to Herman Hargens. They farmed in the Aspinwall and Manning area and moved to Manning in 1937.

Mrs. Hargens was a member of the Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Irene) Hansen of Manning and Mrs. Gilbert (Elaine) Kroeger of Westside; four sons, Donald of Brayton, Dewey of Westside, Merlyn of Manning and Wayne of West Des Moines; 30 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and a sister, Emma Kasch of Council Bluffs.

Preceding her in death were; her parents; two children, Harold and Louisa, an infant daughter; three sisters; four brothers and one grandson.
