MRS. LAURA JAHN

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Jahn were held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the home. The Rev. E.G. Otte, pastor of the St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church officiated.

Pallbearers were Henry Hagge, John Oeser, Henry Schuman, Julius Pruter, Louie Thiedeman and Carl Piper. Burial was in the Hayes Township cemetery beside her husband.

Mrs. Laura Jahn, was born Laura Sievers, October 4, 1871, in Plain, View, Scott County, Iowa, and passed away at her home April 11, 1944 at the age of 72 years, 6 m., and 7 days. She was baptized and. confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

In 1879 she came with her parents to Carroll County where they settled on a farm seven miles, south of West Side, where she spent her childhood and attended school.

In 1892 she was united in marriage to Herman Jahn, who preceded her in death on March 14, 1923. Since her marriage she lived on the farm where she now passed away. Mr. and Mrs. Jahn were the parents of two daughters who survive. Mrs. P.D. Gehlsen, (Paulina) of West Side, and Mrs. John Moeller (Alhpa) of Okoboji; also ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Adeline Sievers of Manning, Mrs. Louise Wunder of Manning, and Mrs. Adelia Dudley of Omaha; and one brother, Henry Sievers of West side. One sister, Mrs. Bertha Wunder passed away July 30, 1939. She also leaves a large circle of friends. Mrs. Jahn had enjoyed fairly good health until two weeks ago when she took ill with the flu.
