LaVonne Mae (Hargens) Culver

LaVonne Mae (Hargens) Culver was born on January 4, 1932, in Manning, Iowa. On March 19, LaVonne passed away in her home surrounded by family. During her High School years she loved to play the Clarinet and was nicknamed "Gabby" by her classmates. After high School LaVonne earned a beautician certificate.

LaVonne was married three times; Roger Stevens, Frank Little and to Thomas Culver. In 1952, she moved to California after marrying Roger, the story has it they were headed for Santa Barbara when their Pontiac and trailer broke down in Sacramento and they never left. She was a Bookkeeper for several auto dealerships for more than 30 years. LaVonnne retired from Von Housen in 1997.

Ninth of ten children, LaVonne is survived by her brother Billie Hargens. She will be greatly missed by her Children - Alvin "Bud" Stevens & Debra Larsen, Grandchildren - Tim Stevens, Brian Stevens, Jennifer Castle, Dylan Larsen, Great-Grandchildren - Harrison Stevens, Hunter Stevens, Owen Castle, Luke Castle.

LaVonne was affectionately known as "Paco" by family and friends. She loved hummingbirds, watching sprint car races, and Nascar, 49rs, Kings, camping with her grandkids, and never got tired of playing Pinochle with her sisters.

Services will be held at North Sacramento Funeral Home 725 El Camino Ave. Sacramento, California, 95815 Thursday, March 31, 2016, at 2pm.

Her siblings: Arlyne Lueth, Berdyne Marten, Lois Crane, Harry, Ralph, Harvey, Lester, Virtus, and Billie.
A half-brother, Roy Hargens, was born to Chris Hargens and his 1st wife, unknown first name - maiden name Nulle.
Chris' 2nd wife was Anna Wiese and they were the parents of the other ten Hargens siblings.
