Lena Lengbehn

Manning Monitor

MRS. LENA LANGBEHN.
Mrs. Lena (Jentz) Langbehn, wife of Frederick Langbehn, died on Friday, March 9, at her late home in this city, after a protracted illness. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, the Rev. William Martens officiating, and the remains were interred in the cemetery to the south.

Born in Holstein, Germany, June 10, 1833, Mrs. Langbehn was nearing the close of her 67th year at the time of her death. Following her marriage, she came with her husband to America, in 1871, settling in Clinton County, Iowa. Here they resided until 1889, when they moved to Crawford County, and six years later to Manning. No children were ever born unto this couple to comfort and care for them in their declining years, and in the taking away of his companion the aged husband, in his loneliness, has the sympathy of all.

Note: both the tombstone and city official records do not list Lena Langbehn with the dates recorded in the Monitor.

There is a Lina K. Langbehn listed in both records: Lina K. Langbehn, January 28, 1828 to February 6, 1899.
