Funeral services for Leotha Andersen were held Monday, February 12, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa. Reverend Joseph Boysen of the United Methodist Church in Irwin, Iowa officiated the service with Connie Siepker as organist.

Interment was held in Oak Hill Cemetery, Irwin, Iowa, with Jamie Cantrell, Troy Cantrell, Joshua Enenbach, Jesse Cantrell, Jackie Cantrell, Kane McMahon and Marc Cantrell as casket bearers.

Leotha Mae, daughter of Fremont and Ethel Pattee Richards, was born February 15, 1918, on a farm near Botna in Shelby County, Iowa. She attended rural school near Botna and graduated from Irwin High School in 1935. After completing her schooling, Leotha continued to live with her parents while working in various other homes. She was married for a short time to Robert Glen Dent. A daughter was born to this union.

On December 12, 1941, Leotha was united in marriage with Carl Andersen at the courthouse in Omaha, Nebraska. The family lived near Irwin and in Fiscus before moving to Irwin. Leotha worked in local cafes and candled eggs at Irwin Produce for many years. After Carl died on April 6, 1980, Leotha continued to live in Irwin until moving to the Manilla Manor in Manilla in 1998.

On February 11, 2000, Leotha became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home in Manning, Iowa, where she died February 9, 2001, at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 25 days.

Leotha was a member of the United Methodist Church in Irwin and a past member of the United Methodist Women. She was an excellent baker and cook and enjoyed reading, embroidery, ceramics, playing cards and bingo.

Besides her parents and husband, one great-grandchild Laura May Enenbach preceded Leotha in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol, and her husband, Richard Schmidt, of Manning; three grandchildren: Chris and her husband Kevin Brown of Manning; Dan Cantrell and his wife, Glenda, of Harlan; and Jill and her husband, Mike Enenbach, of Manning; seven great-grandchildren: Jamie Cantrell and his fiance Megan Trullinger; Marc Cantrell and his wife, Jessica; Troy Cantrell; Jesse Cantrell; Jackie Cantrell; Jeff Enenbach; and Joshua Enenbach; and a greatgreat-grandson, Jaydon Lee Cantrell.
