F. Leslie "Les" Foote, 91, passed away February 12, 2016, at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines, Iowa. He was born December 23, 1924, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to Nina (Leslie) and Charles Foote. Les spent most of his childhood in Des Moines, and graduated from Roosevelt High School. His attendance at Iowa State University was interrupted by World War II, when he served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Force. Following the war, he returned to ISU and received his BS in Electrical Engineering. Les worked as an electrical estimator for Johnson Electric for 42 years until his retirement in 1989. He attended First Federated Church and enjoyed fishing, listening to ISU sporting events and working on projects around the house.

He was survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma; and is survived by his children, Mary (Jeff Friedson) Foote and Robert (Janet) Foote; and grandchildren, Bryan and Kevin Foote. Les was preceded in death by his sister, Frannell Havens Burch.

Services will be held March 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Following the service, his cremated remains will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
