Funeral services for Lillie Hansen were held Monday, April 26, 1999 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Pastors Daniel Vogel and Curt Dwyer officiated the service with Fern Jensen as organist.
Interment was held in Manning Cemetery with Robert Hansen, Norman Hansen, Larry Fischer, Douglas Fischer, Harry Hass and LeRoy Hass as casket bearers.
Honorary casket bearers were Lillie's great-nieces and great-nephews.

Lillie, daughter of Peter F. and Dorathea (Siercks) Hansen, was born March 17, 1905, at home on the farm in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa.

She attended rural school for two years and then attended Trinity Lutheran School. She was confirmed June 1, 1919. Her initial schooling at Trinity Lutheran was in German, so when they switched to English, Lillie had to learn her confirmation all over again. She also attended school in Gray for one year. After her schooling, Lillie worked for Dr. Carlyle in Manning.

On February 23, 1930, Lillie was united in marriage with Alfred Hansen at her parent's home in Manning. They farmed near Irwin for one year and then moved to a farm near Gray, and eventually bought their own farm near Audubon. Lillie was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm where they built a new house. After Alfred's death in 1957, Lillie moved their home into Audubon where she worked at the Audubon Hospital and Friendship Home. In 1995, Lillie moved to the Terrace Apartments in Manning. On August 21, 1997, Lillie became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home.

Lillie was a member of the Lutheran Church since 1926. She possessed a strong faith, was good hearted, had a good sense of humor and truly loved and cared about others. She enjoyed eating strawberry ice cream, crocheting and embroidering.

On Thursday, April 22, 1999, Lillie died at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa. She reached the age of 94 years, 1 month and 5 days.

Besides her husband, Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Otto Hansen and Hugo Hansen; four sisters: Anna Pruter, Alma Miller, Hilda Fischer and Amalia (Mollie) Hass.

Lillie is survived by six nephews: Harry Hass of Denison; LeRoy Hass and his wife, Ruth, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Larry Fischer and his wife, Marion, of Wascca, Minnesota; Douglas Fischer of Kansas City, Missouri; Robert Hansen and his wife, Ruth, of Audubon; Norman Hansen and his wife, Veronica, of Atlantic; two nieces; Lilith and her husband, Valgene Kruse, of Dow City; Margaret and her husband, Bob Nygard, of Des Moines and by other relatives and friends.


Lillie Hansen is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
