Lorenz Ahrendsen

Lorenz Peter, son of Herman L. and Annie (Schulz) Ahrendsen, was born February 27, 1912, on a farm in Jefferson Township, Shelby County, Iowa. At the age of two weeks he moved with his family to the present home farm south of Manning. He attended the rural school near his home and also the parochial school at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa; he was baptized August 18, 1912, and confirmed March 13, 1927.

Lorenz was united in marriage with Ruth Adams on November 22, 1938. The first two years of their married life they farmed just south of their present home. They have made their home on the present place since that time.

Lorenz was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township and has served as elder of that congregation for many years and was a member of the Fellowship Club of the church.

He has been in failing health for the past several years and died suddenly at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, early on December 25, 1979, at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 28 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one grandchild.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, by three daughters, Delores, Mrs. Richard Kaczor of Scott City, Kansas, Donna, Mrs. Charles Butzlaff of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Norma, Mrs. Barry Wageman of Wausau, Wisconsin, by one son, Larry Ahrendsen of Manning, by 13 grandchildren, by one brother, Arthur and one sister, Alta, both of Manning, as well as by many other relatives and friends.
