Lorraine Ruth Ewoldt was born at Carnarvon, Iowa, November 23, 1931, the daughter of Anton and Bena (Link) Frerichs. She was baptized January 19, 1932, at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Carnarvan and confirmed in her faith there May 4, 1946. She was raised at Carnarvan, receiving her education there and the Lake View High School. Following her mother's stroke, Lorraine helped at home caring for her younger brothers.

On February 5, 1950, Lorraine was united in marriage with Lynn Edward Ewoldt in Denison, Iowa. They made their home in Denison where there union was blessed with three children, Judy, Jim and Jeffery. Prior to starting their family, Lorraine was employed as a nurse's aide at Crawford County Memorial Hospital for five years. After her children's formative years Lorraine reentered the workforce and was employed as a sales clerk at the Ben Franklin store in Denison for ten years. For the past 17 years she had been employed as a demonstrator for Hy-Vee in Denison.

Lynn died October 26, 1986, and Lorraine remained in Denison.

In her spare time Lorraine loved to spend time with her grandchildren and follow their activities. Other activities she enjoyed through the years include cooking, baking, gardening and visiting with friends. She also greatly enjoyed her membership in the United Presbyterian Church in Denison where she had served as a Deacon for three years, sang in the church choir, helped with vacation bible school, was a member of the Fellowship and Outreach Committee and the United Presbyterian Women's Circle.

Lorraine died Sunday evening, August 20, 2006, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 74 years, 8 months and 27 days.

Including her parents, Anton and Bena Frerichs, and her husband, Lynn, Lorraine was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anna Mae Ewoldt and one son, Jeffrey Ewoldt.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include two children and their spouses, Judy and John Swanson of Denison and Jim and Cindy Ewoldt of Elkhorn, Nebraska, five grandchildren, Ryan Swanson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Derek and Lindsey Swanson of Denison currently attending the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls and Kaela and Amanda Ewoldt of Elkhorn, Nebraska, two brothers and their spouses, LeRoy and Laurel Frerichs of Apple Valley, Minnesota and Orville and Theresa Fredrichs of Collinsville, Illinois, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
