Lorraine Gehlsen

Funeral services for Lorraine J. Gehlsen will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. Rev. Stephen Ude will officiate. Burial will be in the Beaver Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M., at Carson Funeral Home in Ogden.

Lorraine Joy Kuhl daughter of William and Lillian Cecilia (Schade) Kuhl was born on May 21, 1923, in Manning, Iowa. She graduated with the Manning High School class of 1941. Lorraine was united in marriage to Raymond H. Gehlsen on February 24, 1950 in Manning, Iowa. The couple lived in the Beaver and Ogden area for many years. Lorraine worked at Cronks Steak House in Beaver for several years she also worked as a secretary at Cargill in Beaver for 13 years until she retired in 1985. Raymond died on December 31, 1987. Lorraine moved to the Perry Lutheran Home in August of 2004.

Lorraine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden where she was active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She also belonged to the Ogden Community Business Women and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Lorraine, 84, of the Perry Lutheran Home and formerly of the Beaver and Ogden area died Friday, July 27, 2007, at the Perry Lutheran Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond, sister, Iris and granddaughter, Lisa.

Survivors include two daughters, Pam (Smith) Wenger and husband, Eldo of Stockton, CA, and Linda F. (Gehlsen) Heifner and her husband, Lewis of Bolivar, MO. One son, Barry Gehlsen of Adel, IA. Also five grandchildren, Chris Wenger, Todd Wenger, Amy Tan, Kevin Gehlsen and Brian Gehlsen. Six great grandchildren, Alexander Wenger, Courtney Wenger, Alex Schrick, Nathan Tarr, Emily Tarr and Emmah Gehlsen; Other survivors include Reynold Gehlsen and wife Roseann, Ralph Gehlsen, Blondina Stoffers, Judy Joens and husband, Lyle, Sandra Hanson and LaVonne Gehlsen and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to The Lisa Wenger Memorial Scholarship Fund, Zion Lutheran Church, Ogden, American Cancer Society or Perry Lutheran Home.

Carson Funeral Home in Ogden is in charge of arrangements.
