Lou Hinz, 63, At Manning

Louis (Lou) M. Hinz, 63, well-known former Audubonite, died of a heart attack in the Manning General hospital at about 2 p.m. March 28, 1951.
He was taken to the hospital Sunday and had suffered a continuous series of attacks since then.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Ohde Funeral home here, the Rev. W.D. Kanning of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Manning Cemetery.

Mr. Hinz, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hinz both deceased, was born January 3, 1888, near Templeton and spent almost his entire life in this vicinity. He attended Manning schools and with the exception of four years had lived in this community his entire life.

His marriage to Johanna Ruhde took place at Stanton, Nebraska, on March 18, 1907, and the couple spent one year there. They moved to Viola Center where they spent two years, and then farmed south of Manning 29 years. The last 11 years Mr. and Mrs. Hinz spent in Audubon County, moving back to Manning last December.

Mr. Hinz had retired seven years ago. While in Audubon he was a candidate for sheriff on the democratic ticket, several years ago.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Alfred David (Wilda), Audubon; Mrs. Melvin Hagge (Eldora), Mrs. George Graves, Jr., (Bernice), both of Manning; and Mrs. Louie Martens (Vera) of Carroll, one son, Delbert, Manning.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Ed Paine, Eagle Grove, Iowa; Mrs. Loren Groff, Milford, Iowa; Mrs. Henry Timmerman, Manning; and one brother, Harry, of Manning.


Louis Hinz is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
