Lucille was educated in the Manning schools graduating with Manning High School class of 1941. During high school she took Normal Training and after graduation served as a substitute teacher in the Manning area country schools. She was also employed at W.B. Parrott-Priebe & Sons in Manning. In 1942 Lucille taught country school near Walnut, Iowa, and from 1943 until 1949 she taught country school in the Manning and Aspinwall area. Lucille then enrolled in Thompsons School of Beauty Culture, graduating in 1950. She operated the Klip and Kurl beauty shop in Manning until 1954. On December 15 of that year she was united in marriage with Louis Boell at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. They made their home southeast of Manning until 1957 when they moved to a farm north of Manilla. During these years, Lucille continued to operate her beauty shop and when she lived north of Manilla it was known as the Country Curler.

Lucille was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla and of the Trinity Ladies Guild. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary in Manning and the Legion Auxiliary in Manilla, serving as president of the auxiliary in Manilla. She was also a member of the SNAP Club and the Manilla Rough Riders Saddle Club. Lucille enjoyed music and entertaining with her accordion, and was a member of both the Manilla and Aspinwall Centennial bands.

Lucille continued to operate her beauty shop until she became ill two years ago. She suffered a severe stroke this fall and died on Sunday evening, November 25, 1990, at Manning General Hospital at the age of 66 years, 3 months, and 18 days.
