Lucille Getman

Frances Lucille Getman, 91, Luverne, died Monday, August 30, 2010, at Sanford Hospital in Luverne, Minnesota.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 13, at the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday September 12, at the church.

Lucille Oeser was born on December 22, 1918, to Herman and Margaret (Schrum) Oeser in Manning, Iowa. She attended rural school in Lincoln Township, District No. 3, and graduated from Capital City Commercial College, in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1936.

On October 15, 1941, she married Kenneth Getman in Rock Rapids, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple lived in Rock Rapids. In 1945 they moved to Luverne. She worked for Ben Vander Kooi as a legal secretary and Wally Estenson as a secretary. She later worked at Northwestern Bank in Luverne. She retired in 1983.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne and was active in the Ladies Aid, PEO and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of AARP, Luverne American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Luverne Senior Citizens.

Mrs. Getman is survived by two sons, Tim (Mary) Getman, Cannon Falls, and Dan (Sheryl) Getman, Kalispell, Montana; daughter-in-law, Pricilla Dean, Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Line, San Leandro, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Getman, in 1974; two sons, John Getman in 1998, and Peter Getman in 2007; and two brothers, Allen and Harold Oeser.
