MRS. LUCY BARSBY

Mrs. Lucy A. Barsby, 97, one of Manning's oldest residents, died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 31, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll.

Rites will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Ohde Funeral Home here, with burial in the Manning Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Ahrends, minister of the Manilla Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Mrs. Barsby was born May 21, 1870, at Atlantic and as a young girl moved to Manning with her parents, Alex and Amanda Brady Mayberry. She was a milliner. On Jan. 4, 1900, she married Frank Barsby and they farmed near Manning until moving into town in 1923. Mr. Barsby died in 1948. Mrs. Barsby continued living in her home until being taken to the hospital four and one-half weeks ago.

She is survived by one son, Earl Barsby, Manning; two grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Two brothers, Scott and Charles Mayberry, preceded her in death in addition to her husband.

Lucy Barsby is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
