Luella Brus

Funeral services for Luella Brus were held Sunday, January 16, 1994 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Pastor Robert Riggert officiated the service with Paula Weiss as organist. Interment was held in Manning City Cemetery with Arlan Jans, Richard Brus, Russell Ranniger, Dean Hargens, James Meyer and Richard Fischer as casketbearers.

Luella, daughter of Otto and Hilda Boger Kahl, was born May 16, 1917 in Otter Creek Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She attended rural schools near her home. Luella was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On June 14, 1939 Luella was united in marriage with Arnold Brus. Three children were born to this union. They made their home on a farm northwest of Manning in Hayes Township. In the fall of 1992 they moved into Manning.

Luella died during heart surgery at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on Wednesday, January 12, 1994 at the age of 76 years, 7 months, and 27 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Darlene Wiese.

Survivors include her husband, Arnold, of Manning; her children: Wayne Brus and his wife, Joyce, of Ankeny; Robert Brus and his wife, Judy, of San Antonio, Texas; and Georgia and her husband, Dale Musfeldt, of Ankeny; six grandchildren: Matthew, Andrew and Ryan Brus and Michael, Jennifer and Sara Musfeldt; a sister, Helen and her husband, Roy Fischer, of Brianerd, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Luella was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning and the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed sewing and hand work, as well as playing cards with her friends.


Luella Brus is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
